COMMUNICATION:
The Regional Government ends today, 28th of February, the official Report, that endure for 8 days. These reports had the aim of informing the Madeira People, National and International press.
From this day forward, each Regional Secretary will inform, individually, the evolution of the recovering works regarding the area of responsibility.
SOLIDARITY:
From all over the world, Madeira has received several manifestations of solidarity, for which the Regional Government is deeply grateful.
PROGRESS:
The main concern and priority of the regional authorities were is to support the people and the replacement of all land accessibilities safely and to the most remote locations. The cleaning and restoration works were taking place at an accelerated pace, with two of the three rivers that overflowed in Funchal already running in their normal bed.
From the beginning, the Regional Civil Protection Services, Municipalities, Fire Departments, Health Services, Social Services coordinate the tasks in order to be close to the population and help them in their needs.
At the Funchal Hospital, arrived, 120 wounded people, 70 of those were hospitalized. Now there are only 16 still receiving treatment.
Madeirians that were reallocated temporarily are being supported by the Regional Government and they will return to their homes when it is possible, or the Government will build new houses for them.
RETURNING TO NORMAL:
Tomorrow, 1st of March, most of the accessibilities will be operating in Funchal.
The schools will be open and operating normally.
TOURISM:
The hotel industry of Madeira was not affected by the storms of the past weekend, and maintains all operation conditions safely.
Hotel establishments are operational with all its facilities.
The Madeira International Airport was operational since the beginning as well as the Harbour of Funchal.
